A murder investigation has been launched after a man died of injuries suffered when violence broke out at a Black Country social club.

The 42-year-old man was taken to hospital from Greets Green Social Club, in Tipton, at around 10.23pm yesterday but died shortly after arriving.

Detectives today appealed for information from customers who had been in the social club watching sporting events and members of a family party held there.

A 43-year-old man was this afternoon being questioned after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Ch Insp Angie Whitaker said: "The disturbance took place inside the club, which was busy all day yesterday due to the two major sporting events of rugby and football and also a family celebration taking place at the location."

A post mortem examination was due to take place.
