A school site manager from Oldbury is aiming to run from Sandwell to the top of Mount Snowdon in just five days to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Paul Green will set off on the gruelling 130-mile trek from Tividale Hall Primary School, where he works, on Easter Monday. The 45-year old will complete the challenge when he reaches the 3,560ft summit of Wales' tallest mountain.

The challenge will take the father-of-four through Himley, Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Llangollen, Betws-y-coed and Plas Gwynant.

Mr Green, who has run the London Marathon three times, decided to attempt the run while on a trip with the school to Plas Gwynant Outdoor Education Centre in mid Wales. He said: "I have always admired the athletes who go ultra running over massive distances and numerous days.

"I put the whole thing to the back of my mind for over 12 months until I watched Eddie Izzard achieve the impossible, when he ran around the UK with nothing more than a desire and commitment to just do it."

Mr Green's wife Nichola will form part of a support crew following him by car, and he is aiming to raise at least £1,000.
