Police and paramedics were on the scene in a matter of minutes and discovered that the driver suffered a minor wrist injury and did not require hospital treatment.

Karen Foster, from the nearby career development firm Topps Ltd, said she was working in the offices when she heard an "almighty crash".

"I turned around to look outside, saw a car on its roof and a man crawling out of the window. He got out and then went back to the car so we thought there might have been someone else in there," she said.

The drama unfolded at about 12.30pm yesterday.
