A former West Midland Safari Park worker lost out on more than £100,000 after refusing a final offer from the Banker in a nail-biting appearance on TV's Deal or No Deal.

Rich Masson was left with the £50,000 and £250,000 boxes at the climax of the game, broadcast earlier this week.

And in a final twist, the 33-year-old was then offered £160,000 by the show's Banker to end the game then and there without opening the box he had brought to the table.

But Mr Masson bravely decided to continue with his strategy of refusing the deals offered – opening his box to find the smaller £50,000 sum inside.

But the former keeper at the safari park, in Bewdley, said while he had not won the top prize the £50,000 he took home had changed his life.

Mr Masson, who has since left the safari park, now lives near Holywell, in North Wales, to be closer to his three-year-old daughter Willow. And he has put some of the money aside to put down as a deposit on a new home – and is using the rest to launch his own falconry business.
