River Island is poised to become the latest store to leave Walsall's shopping high street as it seeks to move to the Crown Wharf retail park.
The fashion store is looking to open a new outlet at the shopping park in Wolverhampton Street.
The chain is currently based in Park Street but wants to move, with new jobs set to be created.
An application has been lodged with Walsall Council.
It has been submitted on behalf of agents Savills. It says: "The proposed development will have a positive impact in terms of economic growth and employment generation within Walsall.
"The proposed development is anticipated to create three additional full-time equivalent positions."
Topshop closed its Park Street store in favour of a concession at the Crown Wharf last year.
There are already many empty units in the heart of the town centre with almost 100 unoccupied according to latest figures.
