A scout base in South Staffordshire, used by around 100 youngsters, has been completely destroyed by arsonists, leaving members devastated and forcing bosses to cancel meetings.
Members of 1st First Bilbrook Codsall Scout Group arrived at their base today to find it a charred shell following the arson attack overnight.
Bosses said they were facing a repair bill running into the tens of thousands of pounds.
Those responsible also stole two petrol go-carts from the Bilbrook Road centre, which has been a regular target of thieves over the years. The group has lost all of its camping equipment and its stores have been completely destroyed and ceilings and rooms badly damaged.
Assistant Scout Leader Seb Coleman said the group would be out of action for a long time.
Mr Coleman said there were around 100 youngsters in the popular group and there was a huge waiting list.
Staffordshire Police are now investigating the cause of the blaze.
