Two men from Bilston appeared in court today charged with the murder of a skip hire boss who was shot dead in bed at home.

David Harrison, aged 62, and Darryl Dickens, 33, appeared at Cannock Magistrates Court charged with killing Richard Deakin.

The men were remanded in custody to appear at Stafford Crown Court on Monday.

The pair, both of no fixed address but were known to be living in Bilston, each face a murder charge while Harrison is also accused of robbery and possession of a firearm in relation to an incident in Dudley in 2008.

Father-of-two Mr Deakin was shot twice at the family home in Meadway Street, Chasetown, Burntwood, at around 8.10am on July 5, 2010. He was 27.

Mr Deakin's skip business was based in Walsall.
