Christmas is not only the time of year when many of us over indulgence - it's also the most popular time of the year to conceive.

Some nine per cent of all conceptions take place between Christmas and New Year. So for any of you ladies expecting the pitter patter of tiny feet, this little gem in Sandwell could be just for you.

After all maternity and neonatal services transferred from Sandwell Hospital to City Hospital in January 2011, Serenity Birth centre became the first small maternity unit before The Halcyon midwifery- led unit in Smethwick opened in October.

Designed purposely for low risk pregancies, the centre cost over £1 million pound and boasts the latest equipment, while maintaining a relaxed and comfortable surrounding.

Although medical, it resembles a spa more than that of a delivery suite, which can often frighten new mums.

For more information about the centre and tours visit www.swbh.nhs.uk, call 0121 507 5466 or contact your GP or midwife.
