A controversial development of 32 new homes in South Staffordshire has been rejected by the Government's planning inspector.

South Staffordshire Council threw out the plans last summer to build the houses on open land off New Horse Road in Cheslyn Hay.

Developers Morris Homes appealed to the Inspectorate, which has upheld the council's verdict that it would be detrimental to other residents. The development would overlook existing homes in Park Street and block sunlight, the inspector ruled.

Inspector Brendan Lyons said the positive aspects of the scheme would not outweigh the harm to neighbours' living conditions while the proposed layout of the new estate was inherently flawed.
