Santas in festive spirit in Lichfield

Around 70 people from across Staffordshire dressed up as Father Christmas for the annual Santa Fun Run in Lichfield.

Around 70 people from across Staffordshire dressed up as Father Christmas for the annual Santa Fun Run in Lichfield.

The winter chill in the air formed a perfect backdrop for the city's second run after it made its successful debut in the city last year,

Paul Griffin, of organisers KP Events, was very pleased with the big turn out for the mile-long circuit of around Stowe Pool.

Mr Griffin said it is not a charity event, but entrants are encouraged to raise money for their own chosen organisation by taking part.

He said: "It's been great, the numbers were a little down on last year, but that's fine it was still good.

"It's just a little bit of fun to get people in to the Christmas spirit,

Santa costumes were provided for everyone who took part in fun run, which was open to adults and children.

All of the people who took part went home with a commemorative medal and a Christmas pudding.

The run was sponsored by Lichfield Health and Fitness Club.

Staff from the club were on hand to perform a festive pre run warm up, offering help and advice to runners.
