The £50 million expansion of Wolves' training ground is due to be given the final go-ahead on Tuesday, it emerged today.
Wolverhampton City Council gave its initial approval last month before referring the application to the government.
Now Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has written to say he does not wish to intervene. The council's planning committee is being recommended to approve the development when it meets on Tuesday.
It will see Compton Park expanded and a "world class" academy created, St Edmund's Catholic School moved to adjacent land and 55 luxury homes built.
Work is due to start in April.
