An outdoor ice rink helped to bring Christmas alive for more than 1,000 revellers who flocked to soak up the festive spirit in Pelsall.

The attraction formed the centrepiece of seasonal celebrations in the village, which was transformed into a winter wonderland over the weekend.

More than 40 stalls selling a range of crafts, arts and cakes were also set up off the High Street for the celebrations on Saturday, while street entertainers also performed.

The ice rink was kept in place for the whole of the weekend.

The revamped celebrations were organised through the Pelsall Pride Partnership.

The village changed from its more traditional Victorian theme to generate more interest in the Christmas celebrations.

Walsall Mayor and Pelsall representative, Councillor Garry Perry said: "It has been the best we have had in many years.

"The ice rink proved a success.

"It has been a very popular attraction and one I am sure we will look to repeat again.

"We are all thrilled to bits with how it went."

An ice rink will also be installed in Walsall town centre on December 17 as part of the town's festive celebrations.

It will be put outside the New Art Gallery in Gallery Square.

A tree has also been put up in Walsall town centre, close to The Crossing at St Paul's, in Darwall Street.
