Two crashes happened in Stone in an hour, while a motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after an accident in Cannock.

An elderly couple was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire after their car collided with a lampost at around 5pm on the A51, at the A34 junction, in Stone yesterday.

He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the same hospital.

The second driver was uninjured.

Earlier in the day, a man has been airlifted to hospital after his motorcycle collided with a car near Cannock.

The man, who was riding a Kawasaki, collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra, where the A460 meets the M6 Toll, near Saredon.

Police today said the driver who died after a collision on the A51 near Aston Marina last Thursday was Susan Jane Sharp, from Salt, near Stafford.
