A motocross rider has been left devastated after he returned from a holiday to find his bike worth thousands of pounds had been stolen.

Rob Smith returned from a birthday trip to Amsterdam to find out the bad news and is now appealing for help to find the distinctive bike.

It was stolen from the garage of the house the 33-year-old shares with his father, just as the pair were due to move back in following a fire earlier this year.

Mr Smith, who rides for Burntwood Barracudas, said the Kawasaki Kxf450 "meant the world to him" and appealed to anyone with information about the theft to come forward.

"As this isn't just any bike I am desperate to get it back," said Mr Smith, who works during the week as an account manager for Willenhall logistics firm Aspray 24.

The theft was reported to West Midlands Police on November 13. Anyone with information is urged to call officers on 0345 113 5000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
