A Midland family are to star in a documentary about fairgrounds which TV bosses hope will become the new My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

The Danters, who run Treasure Island on the riverside in Stourport, were filmed for 12 weeks in the summer.

The six-part series, Fairground Attractions, starts on Channel Five at 8pm tonight and follows Henry Danter and his children Kimberley, Henry and Harry in the day-to-day running of the site, which he has owned for five years.

He has also run the Symonds Yat Leisure Park near Ross-on-Wye for 40 years. The show also features two other groups of travelling showpeople as they set up, then dismantle and move on.

Mr Danter, aged 68, comes from a travelling heritage but has focused on building up his Symonds Yat site and a portfolio of cafes and bars. The Stourport site attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Kimberley, 23, told of how the makers had been inspired by the successful Channel 4 documentary My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, which pulled in millions of viewers.
