Police were today granted extra time to quiz three men suspected of kidnapping a 10-year-old boy in Sandwell.

Specialist officers were also interviewing the boy from Oldbury who was allegedly abducted as he walked from a shop and kept against his will before being freed by police.

Detectives have until 11pm to question the men, aged 49, 30 and 48, after being granted an extension by magistrates.

They were arrested in Tividale on Sunday on suspicion of kidnap and tonight officers will decide whether they have enough evidence to charge or release them.

Police were today still at the scene where the boy was found in Gravity Mews, off Bristnall Hall Road. They also moved to quash rumours the flats are a half-way house used by the probation service.

Insp Ian Massey, of West Midlands Police, said: "The property is owned by a private housing association and is not a bail hostel."
