His intricate pumpkin designs of pirates, wizards and monsters attract crowds to his Walsall home every Halloween. And now Simon Patel is taking his pumpkin-carving talents to the next level and launching his own business.

Mr Patel, of Primley Avenue, has also given two of his creations this year to Alumwell Infant and Nursery schools and plans to display more outside his home.

He said: "I do it for fun but I am also trying to start my own business. I took 50 business cards to Essington Fruit Farm and they were gone in 15 minutes."
