Working as a matron at Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital, Gill Holland's life was one of quick, sugary snacks and comfort food at the end of another demanding day.

By the time her retirement rolled around in the spring, she was tipping the scales at 19-and-a-half stones and wearing a dress size 28. Now, just 23 weeks later, the 57-year-old, of Victoria Road, Wednesfield, has shed more than four stones and has just been able to buy her first pair of jeans from Primark.

Gill is now heading up her own slimming club at The Victory Club in Lichfield Road, New Invention, every Wednesday at 7pm.
