Hundreds of shoppers passed through the doors of Dudley's new £27 million Tesco superstore today as it opened for the first time with an official ceremony.

Eager customers gathered outside the four main entrances to the new Tesco Extra supermarket near Burnt Tree Island to wait for the shutters to rise at 8am.

The store also includes a Dominos Pizza outlet, beauty salon and a dedicated technology zone selling TVs and iPods.

It was officially opened in a ceremony at 10am today led by Dudley's Mayor Councillor Michael Evans and long-term Tesco employee Anne Shinton.
