Waitrose supermarkets in Staffordshire and the West Midlands were today becoming delivery depots for upmarket department store chain John Lewis with the launch of a new online service.

The stores in Lichfield, Wolverhampton and Stourbridge will now take delivery of John Lewis stock to be collected by shoppers.

Customers order and pay for the products online using the johnlewis.com website and arrange for them to be delivered to the Waitrose branches.

John Lewis, which owns Waitrose, said the Click and Collect service accounted for one in five of its online orders. Collecting goods from Waitrose means customers do not pay for postage and packaging.

Orders placed before 7pm can be collected free from participating Waitrose branches, including Penn Road, Wolverhampton, Ryemarket, Stourbridge, and Stonnyland Drive, Lichfield, after 2pm the following day.
