Construction work on the creation of a new £122 million incinerator in South Staffordshire has begun.
The start on the waste-to-energy plant in Four Ashes, which will power Featherstone jail, Wolverhampton's i54 business site and more than 32,000 homes, has been welcomed by members of Staffordshire County Council.
The project at the site between Cannock and Wolverhampton forms part of the county council's plans to deliver up to savings of £250m for residents over the next 25 years.
Waste company Veolia has been given the contract to run the incinerator.
