Armed medical experts are one step closer to being officially granted the freedom of the city of Lichfield. The city council has confirmed its intention to bestow the honour to the Joint Medical Command (JMC).

Whittington Barracks is being developed as the home of the JMC after the Army Training Regiment moved out. It will become the single base for medical training for the Army, Navy and RAF. If the councillors agree, a special meeting will be held to grant the freedom next year.

A scroll will be presented at a parade with colours flying, held to exercise that freedom.
