Cocaine with an estimated street value of around £500,000 has been seized in swoops on two motorways by police investigating drug supply across Staffordshire.

Two men – one from Bilston and the other from Tredegar, Gwent – were due to appear before Cannock magistrates today accused of supplying Class A drugs.

Officers monitoring a gang suspected of supplying cocaine and cannabis carried out an arrest operation yesterday. The Bilston man, aged 61, was stopped in a vehicle on the M6 between junctions 8 and 9 at Wednesbury. The other man, aged 29, was stopped in a vehicle on the M5 near junction 6 at Worcester.

The drugs were found in the vehicles. The arrests are part of Staffordshire Police's ongoing Operation Nemesis crackdown on drug crime in the county.
