Brownhill father in drug gang jailed for 11 years

A prominent member of a drug trafficking ring which carried crack cocaine and heroin between the Black Country and Scotland has been jailed for 11 years.

Gary Nelson was the telephone link man behind the multi-million pound operation for more than two-and-a-half years, pocketing up to £300,000 in his role.

The 39-year-old of Cygnet Drive, Brownhills, admitted conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday.

From his ill-gotten gains Nelson, formerly from Wolverhampton, is believed to have have bought two flats and cars, including a £35,000 Ferrari.

The father-of-three was arrested by police as part of Operation Sorceror – an ongoing probe into the supply of illegal substances across the border.
