A 63-year-old woman has died after a fire in the bedroom of her home.
The woman, named as Lynn Luke by neighbours, was pulled from the end terraced property in Greenwood Road, Aldridge, by firefighters and rushed to Walsall Manor Hospital. She later died of her injuries.
Neighbours spoke of their shock after yesterday's blaze which happened around 3.15pm. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.
Next door neighbour Lin Moore, 65, a retired leather preparer, said: "Lynn had lived next to us ever since we moved in here in 1978.
"We didn't know anything was wrong until another neighbour banged on our door."
The grandmother-of-four added Mrs Luke was bedridden after her health had deteriorated in recent years.
Firecrews from Walsall, Bloxwich and Aldridge were called out to the blaze.
