A collision between a car and a car transporter caused delays on the M6 through Staffordshire today.

One lane on the northbound carriageway was closed after the collision at 7am, close to junction 12 near Penkridge.

The car transporter was turned on its side and emergency services had to move the vehicle to the hard shoulder before reopening the inside lane 30 minutes later.

But highways bosses were set to close the motorway between junctions 12 and 13 later today in order to clear the transporter.

It was expected to be closed for more than one hour while a crane is used to pull it upright before its removal.

No-one was seriously hurt in the incident.
