Sad final day at Lichfield's TJ Hughes

Shoppers took advantage of cut-price deals to snap up bargains on the final day of trading for the West Miidland's last remaining TJ Hughes store.

The two-storey department store in Lichfield's Three Spires Shopping Centre was trading for the last day yesterday along with other stores in Doncaster, Bradford, Sunderland and Wrexham which also closed.

At Lichfield, 81 jobs have been lost, while other TJ Hughes stores in the region, including those in Wolverhampton, Walsall and Kidderminster, had already closed.

The Lichfield store has been a hub for shoppers for 17 years and some of the items on sale had 60 per cent off.

Pillow cases, shoes, and even luggage bag padlocks were some of the items snapped up. Fixtures and fittings were also for sale.
