An historic pumping station in South Staffordshire could be once again opened to the public on a permanent basis, it emerged today.

Gavin Williamson MP has been in discussions with owners Severn Trent about operating the Bratch Pumping Station in Wombourne as a full-time community facility.

And the South Staffordshire MP said he felt confident that the water company wanted to see it open its doors once again.

"It's so important to have something so vital to the history of the area open to the public on a more regular basis," said Mr Williamson.

"We need to work with Severn Trent to get this great building up and running. I'd like to see it once again become the heart of the village of Wombourne."
