When Gillian Parrish booked a narrowboat holiday but then feared she may be too big to get on board, she decided it was time to shed the pounds.

Now the Black Country super slimmer has lost so much weight that she has been able to fulfill a lifelong ambition to climb Snowdon. The 57-year-old dropped eight dress sizes from 30 to 14 after shedding seven stone in two years.

Mother-of-two Mrs Parrish, from Wordsley, said ditching fast food in favour of eating freshly-cooked meals, made from scratch at home, had helped her to lose the pounds.

Her weight has dropped from 19st to 12st.

Mrs Parrish, a cashier at Booker Cash and Carry in Brierley Hill, has also become more active and regularly goes for walks, and exercises at home with the help of her Wii Fit console.

She had previously tried various dieting techniques but had struggled to find one that worked until she joined Slimming World two years ago, after being referred to the class by her GP.

Now she is planning to run her own classes to inspire other people to shed the weight.
