Floors-2-Go shops in the West Midlands have closed unexpectedly, it emerged today, leaving a question mark over the future of the firm.

Branches in Bilston, Oldbury and Great Barr were no longer trading today.

The Bilston branch, which is based inside furniture store Our Place in Loxdale Street, "disappeared overnight" according to workers.

Carpet fitter David Thompson, who works for Our Place, said: "It was really quite odd.

"One day all the staff were in there as normal, and then the next day they were all gone."

He added the Floors-2-Go area in the store had been stripped and stock cleared following the shock closure last Wednesday.

Floors-2-Go has also shut a branch in Aldridge Road, Great Barr.

The Oldbury branch closed about two months ago, with workers blaming roadworks in Hagley Road West, where it is based.

The Cannock branch in Delta Way was open as usual today along with the Wolverhampton store, in Fox's Lane, Dunstall Hill.

Staff at both the Halesowen store in Dudley Road and Dudley branch in Birmingham Road said there were no plans for closure.

Bosses based at the firm's head office in New Town Row, Birmingham, today refused to comment.
