Magic achievement of father and son

Father and son magicians John and James Milner have had a few tricks up their sleeves over the years.

Now the Black Country pair have been included in a book celebrating the 50th anniversary of a prestigious competition.

The Milners, of Brook Street, Stourbridge, both reached the finals of the Magic Circle's Young Magician of the Year Competition, but more than 40 years apart.

Their achievements in the event, held every two years, are recorded in a new book called The Young Magicians: The History of a Competition.

The book, by C Michael Colley, has been published to mark the competition's half-century and honour all those who have taken part. John Milner was the youngest magician to reach the finals when he took part in the second event in 1963, aged 15.
