Car topples into ditch after crash

A driver was injured when his BMW car ended up in a 3ft deep hole following a collision in Stafford today.

The two-car crash happened on Tixall Road in Littleworth where gas maintenance works are being carried out

The driver of the other car, a grey Toyota Yaris, had to be cut out of his vehicle by firefighters. He was taken to Stafford Hospital although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The collision was at the junction with Harrowby Street at 7.15am causing traffic hold-ups for motorists travelling into Stafford.

The blue BMW had to be recovered from the ditch, part of a programme of maintentance works being carried out in the road. The driver was shaken but unhurt.
