Firm hit by six metal thefts in one month

Tens of thousands of pounds worth of metal has been stolen after thieves targeted a Black Country foundry six times in just one month, it emerged today.

The brazen thieves have been caught on CCTV in brightly-coloured vans breaking into The Vanguard Foundry, in Botts Lane, Lye, in a series of overnight raids.

In the most recent attack, £13,600 of specialised Gietberg manifolds were stolen along with 12 Churchill manifolds, worth £2,300.

PC Adam Pitt, from the Lye neighbourhood policing team, said CCTV had been recorded showing the burglary in progress, and had caught two vans on camera suspected of being used to carry away the metal."
