A teenager from Sedgley accused of the attempted murder of schoolgirl Chloe West appeared in court today.

Samuel Gayzer-Tomlinson, aged 18, of Turls Hill Road, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court charged with attempted murder.

The 14-year-old suffered 11 stab wounds in her upper body and head when she was attacked outside Ridgewood High School in Wollaston, Stourbridge, on April 1 this year.

Gayzer-Tomlinson also faces an alternative charge of wounding with intent as well as wounding witness Ben Hudson with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and driving a Volkswagen Golf other than in accordance with a licence and without insurance.

The teenager wore a white shirt and only spoke to confirm his name. No pleas were entered but a provisional trial date was set for October 17.

Gayzer-Tomlinson was remanded in custody until the next hearing on September 23.
