A well-known former sea scout leader died suddenly just days after undergoing an operation for a broken leg following a car accident.

Tributes have been paid to 50-year-old Terry Dovey who died at home in Dunlin Drive, Kidderminster, on June 25. Mr Dovey worked for the Ministry of Defence at RAF Cosford.

The civil servant was well-known in the area as a long-time member and group leader of the Kidderminster Sea Scouts.

His heartbroken family today said they had been left devastated by his death and were still coming to terms with the loss.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned at Worcestershire Coroners Court. The medical cause of death is to be confirmed.

But a report of the coroner's court website shows it is thought Mr Dovey suffered a pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis.
