West Bromwich Albion kitman Dave Matthews is battling cancer.
The 65-year-old, from Hasbury, Halesowen, is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
It is understood the father-of-two noticed a lump on his neck after the game against Newcastle last season and has already had one chemotherapy session.
The news comes just months after he celebrated his 50th anniversary at the club with guests including Ron Atkinson, Johnny Giles and Tony Mowbray.
