A special range of merchandise has been produced to tie in with the new touring exhibition for the Staffordshire Hoard – and the souvenirs will cost up to almost £400.

The exhibition opens in the Shire Hall Gallery in Stafford town centre on July 2. The merchandise will be on sale at all the venues on the tour and will include jewellery and pottery, plus cheaper items such as tea towels, postcards and keyrings. Leading pottery firm Moorcroft has designed pieces inspired by the Anglo Saxon treasures.

They include a gold jar costing £395. Jewellery includes ear-rings, pendants, hair slides and crosses – with many of the prices between £14 and £35. A souvenir book will cost £4.99.

Bottles of Backyard Brewhouse's award-winning ale – The Hoard – will also be on sale. The money raised will go towards the ongoing conservation and research of the gold and silver items unearthed at Hammerwich, between Brownhills and Lichfield, nearly two years ago.
