Up to 600 plants were found when officers burst through the doors of units on the Stag Industrial Estate, Oxford Street.

Intricate equipment used for growing the drug was also discovered by police during their raid at about 8.15am yesterday.

Sgt Costas Cosmas, from Bilston police station, has urged people to look out for the signs of illegal cannabis growing and to contact police when they see it.

He said today: "Cannabis factories can be set up anywhere, from industrial units to houses, and there are a number of signs that people can look out for to help us shut them down. There is often a lot of activity following moving in, then very little thereafter.

"People may also notice that curtains or blinds may be permanently drawn and a pungent smell coming from the address."

No arrests have been made in connection with the two factories.

Forensic investigators have been at the two units looking for evidence that might identify anyone connected with the factory.
