Queues of crawling traffic have returned to Wolverhampton's clogged city centre roads after yet more restrictions were imposed around the £22.5 million bus station development.

A new three-week project is under way on Ring Road St David's as work on the revamped terminus in Pipers Row nears completion. Temporary traffic lights were switched on yesterday as old lights on the Broad Street junction are replaced.

Rush hour delays are expected along the dual carriageway, which is down to 20mph and one lane during the day.

But there will be some respite for drivers from this weekend when roadworks associated with the new striking £1.8m footbridge linking the bus station to the train station come to an end.

Ring Road St David's has been closed most nights and at weekends since May while the bridge has been constructed, but that project is due to finish on Sunday at 9pm.
