A car used in an armed robbery in a quiet Staffordshire village has been recovered by police.

A car used in an armed robbery in a quiet Staffordshire village has been recovered by police.

Detectives are hunting raiders who struck as a security van was making a cash delivery to Barclays Bank, in Penkridge.

Two men got away from the scene of the crime in a maroon-coloured, L-registered Vauxhall Cavalier which was found abandoned later that day in Grange Road, Penkridge.

An offender threatened a security guard, from the Group 4 Securicor van, with a knife and made off with a large quantity of cash, thought to be in the region of £25,000.

The first offender was white, 5ft 10in to 6ft tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a black ski mask and black gloves.

The second man, who was driving the vehicle, was described as white with a stocky build.
