A two-acre plot of land and open-air car park at Wolverhampton Science Park is close to being snapped up by the city's university.

The site is owned by development agency Advantage West Midlands, which is being shut down next year by the Government.

It has been given permission to sell a number of its sites on the open market.

Brief details of the deal between the quango and the University of Wolverhampton have emerged in reports to the cabinet of Wolverhampton City Council, which has to agree to release restrictions on the freehold.

The land is currently open-air car parking but has several spaces left vacant most days.

It is called i-Central and was originally meant to be developed by AWM as a project with the University and City of Wolverhampton College.
