A Staffordshire teacher has died after suffering a heart attack shortly before class was to begin.

Ray Bryant, aged 53, an English teacher at Stafford Sports College, had only fully qualified as a teacher two days before he collapsed and died.

Ambulance crews were called to the Wolverhampton Road school on Thursday morning.

The father-of-two originally started work at the school as a volunteer 10 years ago and during that time he gave tennis coaching.

His wife Jayne also works at the school as part of the support team for pupils with behavioural issues. The couple have two sons in their twenties - Tim and Dan.
