A £15 "all you can drink" offer at a Dudley pub that came under fire amid fears it would encourage binge drinking has been shelved.

The promotion at the Arizona Crossing in Kingswinford had been criticised by residents but bar owner Chris Silcox has now admitted it "wasn't the best idea".

The promotion was due to run for two hours every Friday night starting this week.

But there were fears it could lead to drunken violence and be a health risk to boozers who do not know their limits.

One councillor called it "totally irresponsible" and said it would turn Kingswinford into a "no-go area" at night.

Customers were to pay a £15 entrance fee to get a token, which they would then show at the bar to get drinks between 9pm and 11pm.

The offer would have covered beer, cider, spirits, mixers and alcopops.

Mr Silcox originally refused to comment when contacted by the Express & Star but then called back today to say the promotion would not go ahead.
