Hundreds of workers and shoppers were evacuated from premises in Stourbridge High Street during a security alert today.

Police ushered customers and workers out of the shops and into Lower High Street at around 3.15pm.

A police cordon was put up at the bottom of the High Street and also in Market Street.

Workers said they believed it followed the discovery of suspicious package.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Catherine Hickman said officers were making enquiries following a security alert.
