This aerial shot of Wolves' historic home ground reveals the gaping hole that has been left as contractors Buckingham Group have made speedy work of tearing down the Stan Cullis Stand. Workers will this week begin laying the foundations of its £16million replacement.

The building work starts as fans look forward to the release of next season's fixtures on Friday. Supporters will find out when Mick McCarthy's men will take on big-spending Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea – who all left the city empty-handed in 2010/11 – in the new-look stadium.

Diggers were this morning continuing the clear-up after the final section of the stand was collapsed, leaving mounds of debris and mangled steel.
