Sheila Jones was today appearing in court accused of killing the partially blind pensioner, after being held in custody overnight at Bloxwich police station.
The married mother-of-two was quizzed for a second time yesterday after police discovered "significant" new pieces of evidence.
The Express & Star can reveal a number of items have been seized and have been sent for forensic testing. Jones, aged 36, was arrested by officers as she walked on Red Lion Lane, Norton Canes, at around 1pm yesterday.
She was taken into custody and detectives charged her at around 8pm.
Jones, of Brownhills Road, Norton Canes, was appearing before Walsall Magistrates Court today.
