Motorists are set to be banned from parking and waiting on several roads in Sandwell under plans to end years of misery at traffic blackspots.

The new restrictions will affect 28 roads across Cradley Heath, Old Hill and Blackheath.

The move comes after residents flagged them up as problem areas. Sandwell's neighbourhoods chief Councillor Derek Rowley is exp-ected to approve the plans.

The new restrictions are outlined in a report which will be considered by Councillor Rowley, on Friday.

The report says the changes are proposed "to address parking problems which have been brought to the council's attention and which the council supports".

Among the restrictions being put in place include an extension of an existing no waiting at any time restriction in Forge Lane, Cradley Heath, opposite Cradley Heath train station.

Other areas affected include Bradleys Close at the junction with Barrs Road in Cradley Heath and at Powke Lane in Rowley Regis, from its junction with Garratts Lane to the scrap metal yard entrance.

In Blackheath High Street, there will be the int-roduction of no loading from Monday to Saturday bet-ween 9am and 6pm at its junction with Beet Street and along the length of High Street to its junction with Short Street. Councillor Mary Docker, said: "I fully support the measures, I think it is long overdue."
