Police probing the murder of 92-year-old Daisy Myring made a direct appeal today to those helping her killers evade capture, urging: "Turn them in."

Detectives spoke out after a Cannock man and a woman arrested on suspicion of murdering the blind grandmother were released on bail pending further inquiries.

They said the community held the key to the brutal attack on the sprightly pensioner who lived alone in Brownhills.

Officers believe that several people may know the identify of the killers.

Det Ch Insp Wayne Jones said the perpetrators would have been acting strangely ever since Daisy was bludgeoned to death and would be tormented by their guilt.

CCTV is being scrutinised to detect images of vehicles seen in the area between 8.10pm on Monday, when her carer left her for the night, and 7.10am the following day, when another found her collapsed in a downstairs bedroom at her home in Albion Road.
