Detectives have been given more time to quiz a man and a woman from Cannock over the murder of 92-year-old Daisy Myring.
The blind pensioner died of a head injury after being attacked at her Brownhills home.
Now police have been granted a warrant giving them further time to hold the pair in connection with Mrs Myring's murder.
The 36-year-old woman and 40-year-old man were arrested after the victim was discovered at her home in Albion Road on Tuesday.
She was found in her downstairs bedroom by her carers at around 7am.
Police spokesman Billy Corrigan said: "The warrant for further detention provides officers with an additional time to question the pair. This extension is due to end at 8.15pm this evening."
Detectives revealed yesterday the housebound pensioner is likely to have known her killers.
Officers have been searching a number of other houses, including one in Brownhills Road, Norton Canes, as part of inquiries.
