Firefighters in the West Midlands have unveiled their new uniform which they will be wearing from today.

The smart new uniform replaces the old orange kit. Supplied by Bristol Uniforms as part of an eight-year deal, the brigade claims it saves £1.4 million compared to the previous contract.

It will be worn by firefighters from all West Midlands Fire Service's community fire stations.

The new kit, which is Paris blue and red, replaces the magma-coloured uniforms.

It also has a number of enhanced safety features, including a new helmet with built-in safety glasses, and the uniform itself is made from a lightweight and more breathable fabric.
